Men with erectile dysfunction have been shown to have a direct link to an increased risk of developing a potentially fatal heart attack or stroke, according to new research.
The findings, from a UK study, were presented at the Scientific American conference on Thursday, June 29.
Dr Ian Wood, a cardiologist and cardiologist at the University of Manchester, said the findings were "very important for men who are at increased risk for heart attacks and strokes".

Dr Wood said it was important to understand that the increased risk of a heart attack and stroke in men with erectile dysfunction was not an isolated case.

The research was funded by Pfizer Inc, the maker of Viagra, Pfizer Inc's patent for the drug has expired, and Pfizer is now reclassifying it as a generic medicine.
